Virginia Tech Football preparing to begin voluntary workouts in Blacksburg

Small-group workouts supervised by Coach Ben Hilgart and his staff will be limited to the Beamer-Lawson Practice Facility and the Steve Johnson practice fields. The locker room and other common football areas will remain closed at this time.

Biomedical engineering and mechanics postdoc and students adapt lab spaces and resources to 3D print PPE parts

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Anand Vadlamani, a biomedical engineering and mechanics postdoctoral researcher, joined efforts to respond. Working with his peers in the department to collect 3D printers and adapt lab space, Vadlamani took part in a coordinated Virginia Tech effort to produce personal protective equipment.

Inspired by her father, student aims to find cure for pancreatic cancer

One mission drives Jessica Gannon. She is focused on finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. During her freshman year at Virginia Tech, Gannon's father passed away from the disease. As she prepares for her senior year as a Hokie, her father’s story continues to inspire her.

Although the plans we present here will continue to evolve over the summer with additional input and data, significant elements are firm, and it is now time for our students, faculty, and staff to shift from planning to preparation.

Planning underway for strategies to protect public health in the fall semester

University leaders are reviewing operational strategies to protect public health on campus, with a goal of resuming in-person instruction and experiential learning opportunities for the fall semester. Leaders are considering the strategies as the university prepares for an expected June 8 announcement on fall semester plans.
